The --style parameter (not to be confused with --stylize) is used to turn on specific fine-tunes of Midjourney models. These fine tunes alter the style.
Midjourney V4
Midjourney V4 went through multiple iterations.
You can use --style 4a
, --style 4b
and --style 4c
to check them out.
--style 4b
and4c
are quite similar;--style 4a
is different--style 4c
is just the same as the base model.

Midjourney V5.1 & V5.2
The --raw
style is available for Midjourney V5.1 and V5.2.
This style is meant to reduce the effect of the default Midjourney style.
Here are some prompts where you can see the difference:

anchored machine, stylized circuit board, albatross, craig mullins --seed 802477 --v 5.1

anchored machine, stylized circuit board, albatross, craig mullins --seed 802477 --v 5.1 --style raw

anchored machine, stylized circuit board, albatross, craig mullins --seed 802477 --v 5.1

anchored machine, stylized circuit board, albatross, craig mullins --seed 802477 --v 5.1 --style raw
Since I'm controlling the seed the images are very similar. You can tell that the default style will increase contrast and level of detail, and the raw style looks simpler, less polished...literally more 'raw'.
