Lets say you love a Midjourney image but you want make some small changes to the original prompt.

Know the image seed will allow you to do that: re-create an image but with a modified prompt or modified settings.

To find the seed of any image, react to it with the Envelope emoji (✉️) in Discord (copy and paste the emoji, or search for "envelope"). This works in both channels and private chats.

Know you Midjourney will not give you the same image.

The Midjourney bot will send you the Job Id and the Seed of the image.

Now that you know the seed, you can experiment with changing things around. I'll keep the seed the same, but make changes to the prompt:

light watercolor, children playing at the beach, cat, bright, white background, few details, dreamy, Studio Ghibli --seed 3650826227

light watercolor, children playing at the beach, mickey mouse float in air, bright, white background, few details, dreamy, Studio Ghibli --seed 3650826227

light watercolor, children playing at the beach, tank in background, bright, white background, few details, dreamy, Studio Ghibli --seed 3650826227

Does this work with other peoples' images?

The method above does not work with other peoples' images. Midjourney will only tell you the Job ID of that image and not the seed.

Unfortunately, Midjourney does not expose the seeds of other peoples' images to the public. Your best bet is to ask them nicely.

While you can't find the seed, you can find Discord user's exact prompts, by looking them up in the Midjourney Gallery.
