33 Fantastic SDXL v1.0 Prompts (Many Styles with Prompt Templates)

SDXL v1.0 has been released and users are excited by its extremely high quality. It's generations have been compared with those of Midjourney's latest versions.

SDXL prompts (and negative prompts) can be simple and still yield good results.

In this guide we'll go through:

Installation

Here's our guide on running SDXL v1.0 with AUTOMATIC1111.

Recommended Settings

Resolution

For best results, keep height and width at 1024 x 1024 or use resolutions that have the same total number of pixels as 1024*1024 (1048576 pixels)

Here are some examples:

• 896 x 1152
• 1536 x 640

SDXL does support resolutions for higher total pixel values, however results will not be optimal.

Samplers

I recommend any of the DPM++ samplers, especially the DPM++ with Karras samplers. Start with DPM++ 2M Karras or DPM++ 2S a Karras.

VAE

VAEs for v1.5 models will not work with SDXL. They will produce poor colors and image quality.

Download the SDXL VAE called sdxl_vae.safetensors and place it in the folder stable-diffusion-webui\models\VAE. This VAE is used for all of the examples in this article.

If you don't have the VAE toggle: in the WebUI click on Settings tab > User Interface subtab.

Then under the setting Quicksettings list add sd_vae after sd_model_checkpoint.

Scroll to the top of the settings. Click Apply settings, and then Reload UI.

Now you will see the VAE dropdown next to your checkpoint model dropdown:
